From quote to installation day

Accepting a quote isn’t the end of the process — it’s the start of the build. If you’ve just finished comparing three window quotes and made your choice, this is what to expect from here.

1. Order confirmation and paperwork

Your installer confirms the exact specification in writing, takes any agreed deposit — ideally protected under a deposit scheme — and sets out the payment terms. Check the order matches the quote you accepted, line for line, before you sign. This is also when your guarantee and any insurance-backed cover are documented.

2. Final measure and manufacture

Many installers carry out a precise pre-manufacture measure, even after the earlier survey, because bespoke frames must fit exactly. Your windows are then made to order, which typically takes a few weeks depending on material, colour and finish.

3. Booking installation day

Once your frames are ready, you’ll agree a fitting date. A single window might take a couple of hours; a whole house is usually one to three days. The installer should confirm arrival times, how many fitters to expect and what access they’ll need.

4. On the day

• Clear the way. Move furniture, ornaments and curtains from around each window.
• Old frames out, new ones in. Fitters remove the existing units, fit the new frames, seal and adjust them.
• Making good. Any agreed plastering, trims and finishing are completed — check this was in your quote.
• Sign-off and certificate. You’ll receive your FENSA or CERTASS certificate, confirming the work meets Building Regulations, plus your guarantee documents.
